our goal
Making Surgical Risk Predictable.
Safer Surgery With Better Outcomes For Patients, Providers And Purchasers.
Safer outpatient surgery with better outcomes for patients, providers and purchasers.
“The ongoing transformation of surgical care from the inpatient to outpatient setting imparts an unprecedented level of risk to the surgeon and provider facility.”
Chief Executive Officer, Soteria Medical Risk
Soteria uses proprietary data analytics to overhaul how surgical risk is assessed, managed, and mitigated.
The ability to assess the specific risk of a surgeon or facility is limited leading to generic and unfocused risk assessment and mitigation programs. This generic approach is expensive, time consuming, and only marginally effective. In contrast, Soteria predicts the risk of a specific surgeon or facility leading to customized risk management and mitigation solutions for our customers. Making surgical risk predictable leads to safer surgery with better outcomes for patients, providers, and purchasers.
Research indicates more than 60 percent of surgical procedures can be performed same day in a hospital outpatient department (HOPD) or Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). That number will continue to rise with technology advancements and pressure to reduce the cost of healthcare to the federal government, commercial payers, and consumers. And while the long-term impact of COVID-19 on consumer attitudes is unknown, early research suggests an increased preference for elective surgeries to be performed outside of hospitals.
With more complicated surgical procedures moving to the outpatient environment, most likely into relatively unregulated ASCs, proactively identifying and eliminating risk is more important than ever for patients. Since Soteria’s patent pending Surgical Risk Assessment Program (SRAP) predicts risk at the surgeon and facility levels, customized interventions are now possible.
